Crystal Palace & Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek receives huge World Cup boost

Crystal Palace & Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek

It’s been a topsy-turvy season for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Loftus-Cheek was sent out on loan from Chelsea to Crystal Palace at the start of the season.

After settling into the Palace XI, RLC missed a large chunk of the season through injury.

Indeed, Loftus-Cheek’s injury problems were so bad, he left Crsyatl Palace to return to Chelsea for treatment.

At the same time, Loftus-Cheek made his England debut in a friendly against Germany this season.

Loftus-Cheek receives huge World Cup boost

RLC has returned to the Palace XI in recent weeks as the Eagles battle to beat the drop.

And according to the Daily Mail’s Matt Law on Friday, if the Chelsea loanee manages to play out the rest of the season, he’ll be in the England squad at the World Cup:

Ruben Loftus-Cheek looks certain to be part of England’s World Cup squad if he can stay free from injury until the end of the season.

Manager Gareth Southgate wants the gifted young midfielder on the plane to Russia and was hugely encouraged to see him make his first start for Crystal Palace since December against Bournemouth last weekend.

England have been drawn against Tunisia, Panama and Belgium in their World Cup group.

Crystal Palace vs Brighton

Palace have one of their biggest matches of the season on Saturday when bitter rivals Brighton visit Selhurst Park.

Shouldn’t this game have been broadcast on TV?

Roy Hodgson’s side begin the weekend one place above the relegation zone following last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth.

Palace twice took the lead through Luka Milivojevic and Wilfred Zaha before being pegged back by the Cherries.

Milivojevic now has scored in three consecutive matches and became the first Crystal Palace midfielder to score 10 Premier League goals in a season.

With four wins in 16, Palace have the third worst home record in the league this season.

Brighton drew 1-1 with Huddersfield at the Amex last weekend, putting an end to a run of three consecutive 2-0 defeats.
