Ozil & Mkhitaryan scoop Arsenal club awards for February

Premier League outfit Arsenal have this evening announced the winners of the club’s awards for the February Player and Goal of the month.

Mkhi rewarded

First up is Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who scoops the gong for Arsenal’s finest player over the course of February, after beating off competition from Alexandre Lacazette and Bernd Leno:

The Armenian midfielder made his return to the pitch following a lengthy injury layoff at the beginning of last month, before going on to feature versus all of Huddersfield, Bate Borisov (twice), Southampton and Bournemouth.

And it was in the latter two of these outings that Mkhitaryan shone brightest, as the former Manchester United man first notched a goal and an assist versus Southampton, before adding a further goal and 2 more assists 3 days later when Arsenal hosted Bournemouth.

Ozil’s trademark strike

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also announced Mesut Ozil as the winner of the club’s Goal of the Month competition for February.

The German’s award-winning strike came during the Gunners’ 5-1 rout of Bournemouth on the 27th, during which he also notched an assist.

Ozil’s finish, which set Arsenal’s victory in motion, saw the 30-year-old showcase his latest trademark bounced strike.

The former Real Madrid man struck his effort into the ground, with the ensuing bounce having deceived Artur Boruc before nestling in the back of the Bournemouth net:
