Ornstein vs Di Marzio: Reliable sources disagree over Aaron Ramsey’s Juventus contract

Contrasting figures regarding the financial details of the pre-contract agreement signed by Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey with Juventus have surfaced online this evening.

Ramsey’s Arsenal exit confirmed

The story surrounding the future of Welsh international Ramsey has been one of the talking points of Arsenal’s season so far.

The 28-year-old, who has been on the books of the Gunners for over a decade, confirmed in October that Arsenal had come to the surprising decision to revoke the contract offer that had previously been presented to him, meaning he was free depart the Emirates upon the expiration of his current deal this summer:

‘We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal, but that is no longer the case.’

‘So, I have to just carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.’

‘That’s a decision that they have made. Things happen in football and you just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can’

Juve win the race

As such, a high-profile race to secure Ramsey’s signature inevitably unfolded over the months that followed, with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Real Madrid having all been named as suitors of the Welshman.

In the end, however, it was the kings of the free transfer, Juventus, who sealed a deal for Ramsey last month.

The Bianconeri subsequently went on to make the Arsenal star’s signing official this evening, confirming that Ramsey has put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement at the Allianz Stadium.

Ornstein vs Di Marzio

However, the figures surrounding exactly what Ramsey is set to earn in Turin have since widely-varied online.

David Ornstein, regarded as extremely reliable when it comes to Arsenal news, initially reported that the Welshman’s deal with the Bianconeri is set to see him earn a massive £400-per-week, a figure which would make him the highest-paid British player of all-time:

Others in Italy, however, including both the highly-reliable Gianluca Di Marzio and Juventus transfer expert Romeo Agresti, have since claimed that Ramsey’s deal is actually worth significantly less:

‘Hard to hide a 7 million discrepancy’

Gabriele Marcotti, meanwhile, has backed these claims, as well as providing some insight into Juventus’ dealings on the transfer market:
