Chelsea 2 – Man City 0
Manchester City lost 2-0 at Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
Despite Man City dominating the play in the first half at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea took the lead just before the break through N’Golo Kante.
David Luiz scored Chelsea’s crucial second goal with a header in the second half.
The result means that Liverpool are top of the league, a point above Man City in the standings.

Only three Chelsea players would get into Man City’s XI
In his weekly column in the Times, Tony Cascarino has forwarded his belief that only three Chelsea stars would get into Man City’s XI.
The analyst wrote the following:
Before Chelsea’s win against Manchester City, I was thinking which of their players would get into Pep Guardiola’s team.
I settled on three: Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kanté and César Azpilicueta and they were the standout performers at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard excelled as a false No 9, Kanté scored the opening goal with a great finish and Azpilicueta came out on top in his battle against Raheem Sterling.
Cesar Azpilicueta chalked up a brilliant stat against Man City. The Spaniard won 13 tackles in the match – which is more than any other player has managed in a Premier League match this season.
Will David Luiz still be at Chelsea next season?
Now 31, David Luiz is out of contract at Chelsea at the end of the season.
Chelsea have a known policy in place to only award one year contract to players over the age of 30.
That’s lead the Guardian to speculate about David Luiz’s ongoing Chelsea future this Monday:
David Luiz would want more than the 12-month extension that is currently on the table, aware as he is that he would be able to secure longer terms elsewhere.
The Brazilian defender is allowed to start talking to foreign clubs about a possible summer move this January.
