Alan Shearer on Man United after Liverpool
Where now for Manchester United?
Liverpool not only moved into first place in the Premier League on Sunday with a 3-1 win at Anfield.
Liverpool have moved 19 points ahead of Man United in the table after 17 games.
Can Jose Mourinho’s men finish in the top four? That’s hugely doubtful as United are 11 points off of the Champions League spots.
On Match of the Day on Sunday night, Alan Shearer offered his thoughts on what’s going on at Old Trafford.
While Shearer didn’t absolve Jose Mourinho of blame, he also focused in on the players.
Shearer argued that only David De Gea is playing close to his potential this season.
Put another way, every other Man United player is underperforming and not pulling their weight.
So what’s next? For Shearer, Man United need to make big changes in January.
But will the Man United board back Mourinho in the transfer market?
"Only David de Gea is playing anywhere near his potential and that has to come from the manager."

Ryan Giggs on Romelu Lukaku after Liverpool
One of the quotes which is focusing plenty of attention after the Liverpool loss has come from Ryan Giggs.
Giggs was a pundit for Optus Sport alongside Michael Owen.
Giggs picked on Romelu Lukaku after the defeat at Anfield with the following statement:
We used to have centre-forwards like (Eric) Cantona who would turn bad balls into good balls. Now we have centre-forwards like Lukaku who turn good balls into bad balls.
“If Jurgen Klopp, if Pep Guardiola were managing this team, they would be a lot better!”
