One Man United star singled out for abuse vs Crystal Palace

By Conor Laird

Viewers of this evening’s clash between Crystal Palace and Manchester United have taken to social media in their droves to take aim at Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba, following the Frenchman’s disappointing showing during the opening 45 minutes.

Matchup

The two sides are currently locked in action at Selhurst Park, with hosts Palace having come into proceedings on the back of no wins from their last 5 league outings, the latest of which saw the Eagles fall to a hugely-disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Tottenham courtesy of a late Harry Kane strike.

Manchester United, meanwhile, bounced back from a shock 1-0 loss away to Newcastle 3 weeks ago with 2 wins and a draw from their last 3 games, including a crucial 2-1 victory over Chelsea last time out.

1-0

Unsurprisingly, Manchester United were labelled as clear favourites ahead of kick-off, meaning there was shock amongst viewers when Palace took the lead with just 11 minutes on the clock, courtesy of Andros Townsend.

After Christian Benteke was slipped in down the left side of United’s box, the burly Belgian hitman cut inside, before laying a pass off to the incoming Townsend on the edge of the box.

And the English wide man’s ensuing driven effort took a massive deflection off of Victor Lindelof, leaving David De gea wrong-footed and arrowing perfectly into the top-right hand corner of United’s goal.

Slated

The visitors have since posed little threat of finding an equaliser, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba largely kept under wraps by Palace’s impressive backline.

And it is Pogba who has since been torn into online, with the Frenchman having looked largely disinterested over the course of the opening 45 minutes:
