Olivier Giroud has payed tribute to Arsenal fans following his move across London to Chelsea.
The forward has made the switch after spending five seasons with the Gunners, and falling down the pecking order.
While landing an Arsenal reject might not be quite what Chelsea fans had in mind, the move is certainly better than one for Peter Crouch, Andy Carroll or any of the other names the Blues had been linked with.
Giroud thanked the fans for their support, but is now looking to the future, and will of course want to do everything he can to get a spot in Chelsea’s first team and make sure that he helps the club with their Premier League top four ambitions and also the Champions League, where Antonio Conte’s men face Barcelona.
“I spent five and a half amazing years within the arsenal family.
“This beautiful story ends today.
“Thank you for your warm welcome.
“I would like to especially thank the fans for their unconditional support upon my arrival #nananana #ThankYou”

The targets for Giroud will be vastly different at Chelsea, and it seems that he will now be helping Conte’s men make sure they get into the top four – and that is of course something Arsenal are trying to do also.
The Blues are currently sitting in third and look in good shape for a Champions League spot next season – while Arsenal are set to once again miss out on a place in Europe’s Premier competition, and while the Chelsea fans may not feel as though they’ve got a world class forward, Giroud himself must be feeling as though he’s upgraded from the Gunners.
