Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made his feelings regarding the wild chain of events late in the first-half of Manchester United’s meeting with Burnley this evening crystal clear.
The Red Devils are currently locked in action with Sean Dyche’s men at Turf Moor.
United of course headed into proceedings aware that a positive result would see them move clear of Liverpool atop the Premier League table, amid a fine spell of recent form.
As things stand, however, the visitors have been frustrated in their efforts to break down a stubborn Burnley side.
The opening 45 minutes of action saw the likes of Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani come close, with the former’s bending strike from distance having forced a fine save from Nick Pope.
Unfortunately, however, upon the whistle sounding for half-time, it was the officiating and VAR process which took centre stage at Turf Moor.
The first incident of note came shortly before the half-hour mark, when a Robbie Brady challenge on the edge of the Burnley box saw appeals quickly spread for a red card to be produced.
Upon initial viewing, referee Kevin Friend, though, opted for just a booking.
This, however, was only before the match official received word from the VAR crew that an incident at the other end, which saw Luke Shaw up-end Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson, required checking.
In turn, after what felt like an age at the monitor, Friend overturned his initial free-kick to Manchester United, before awarding a set-piece to the hosts, and handing Shaw a yellow card:
It could have been a red card for either side – a big decision for the referee!

Then, just when it appeared as though the chaos had reached a conclusion, another moment of controversy was forthcoming.
On this occasion, a whipped ball to the back post saw Harry Maguire rise highest, before directing a superb header into the far top corner.
Friend, however, immediately blew his whistle, to rule what looked set to be the game’s opener out, and award a free-kick to Burnley.
VAR opted against intervening, despite subsequent replays having showcased the fact that Maguire was rather hard done-by in being adjudged to have fouled Erik Pieters:
Harry Maguire thought he’d given #MUFC the lead at Turf Moor but it’s ruled out for a foul in the box! ❌
Burnley breathe a sigh of relief…😅

In turn, fans and viewers of the Turf Moor clash, particularly of a Man United persuasion, quickly made their feelings clear regarding both the standard of officiating, and utter mess that is VAR.
And, as outlined above, one of the more high-profile figures in attendance at Turf Moor was also heard revealing his disgust with the situation.
The individual in question was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who, after seeing his side’s opener ruled out, was heard venting: ‘Load of f***ing nonsense!’
Solskjaer calls it right, shouting from touchline: “Load of fucking nonsense.” #MUFC
