Solskjaer has revealed that he had a clause in his contracts at Cardiff and Molde that would allow him to join United.

When asked about whether he thought he’d ever become manager of United, Solskjaer told NRK:

“Yes!

“Call me naïve, call me stupid, call me ambitious, call me whatever you want. But ever since I trained the reserves team the dream was to become the manager of Manchester United.”

“I have to be my own man. But it so happens that Manchester United has a way of playing that suits me well.

“After Cardiff I had to be honest and say I didn’t think this would happen.

“I had had seen it as a potential diving board, do well in Premier League and then Manchester United.

“But when it went as it did in Cardiff I thought ‘Its over, Im done’.

“I made sure to have a small, let’s call it a clause, in my contracts, that said if Manchester United called, they would have to let me go.”
