Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides update on Man United future following Liverpool rout

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has, on Sunday evening, spoken out over his future at the club.

Salah stars in drubbing

Solskjaer of course led his side back into action earlier today, in a Premier League showdown with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils entered the clash eyeing a much-needed return to form on the domestic front, having slipped a full eight points off the pace of table-topping Chelsea owing to a draw and two defeats from their last three.

When all was said and done in Manchester on Sunday, however, United came up short, in the most spectacular fashion imaginable.

A frankly laughable defensive display ultimately culminated in the hosts being put to the sword by 5 (FIVE) goals to nil.

Mohamed Salah proved the star of the rout, netting a hat-trick to make it an eye-watering 14 goals in the Egyptian’s last 10 appearances across all competitions:

Naby Keita and Diogo Jota were on target at Old Trafford, too, guiding Liverpool back into 2nd in the Premier League table, just a point adrift of Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.

‘Come too far’

Back on the red half of Manchester, however, the situation evidently looks considerably less rosy.

Ahead of a season which promised so much, the Red Devils have already been ousted from the League Cup, required last-gasp winners to avoid further embarrassment in the Champions League, and now slipped out of the Premier League’s top-6.

In turn, with such a wealth of unquestionable talent at his disposal, it should come as little surprise to hear of calls beginning to mount amongst the United fanbase for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be dismissed.

The Norwegian’s situation therefore inevitably took centre stage during his post-match media duties this evening, as the Red Devils headmaster was drawn on his future at Old Trafford.

In an update that will no doubt come as a concern for the club’s supporters, however, Solskjaer was quick to suggest that he will be going nowhere for the time being, insisting that he and his players are ‘too close to give up now’:
