Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has this afternoon provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of their upcoming meeting with Chelsea.
Chelsea vs Man United
The Red Devils are set to return to action following the winter break next Monday, with a trip to Stamford Bridge.
The matchup will come as a crucial one in the race for a top-4 spot in the Premier League.
As things stand, it is Frank Lampard’s Chelsea who occupy the final of the English top-flight’s Champions League berths.
Manchester United, meanwhile, currently sit in 8th, 6 points adrift of the Blues.
As such, a victory for Solskjaer’s men in 3 days’ time would see their Champions League hopes greatly boosted.
A defeat, on the other hand, would see the Red Devils fall a likely-insurmountable 9 points off the top-4 pace.
As such, speaking ahead of what could prove to be a season-defining outing for his side, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this afternoon provided the latest on his squad.
First, the United boss discussed the potential involvement of Odion Ighalo.
Nigerian hitman Ighalo of course made the move to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day last month, to add some much-needed depth to the Red Devils’ frontline.
Solskjaer, though, was keen to keep his cards close to his chest when it came to the possibility of his side’s latest addition featuring versus Chelsea:
I never said he was going to be ready to play on Monday.
He’ll be involved with us and he’ll travel down with us and, obviously, now he’s out of that two-week period of precaution and it’s a precaution we’ve made.
“He’ll travel with us and let’s see if he’s involved or not.“

There were also updates forthcoming on injury absentees Scott McTominay and Axel Tuanzebe during Solskjaer’s press conference.
Monday’s Stamford Bridge showdown, though, is set to come too soon for both, despite their respective involvements on the club’s warm-weather training camp in Marbella this week.
