Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues Manchester United update with four players sidelined against Leicester

Manchester United take on struggling Leicester City

Manchester United are looking to bounce back from a disappointing draw against Everton before the international break as they travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled to get going this season, and currently sit limply in thirteenth place, having lost three and drawn a further two of their opening seven Premier League fixtures. By contrast, Manchester United sit in fourth place, two points from top spot, courtesy of four wins from their opening seven games.

As a result, Leicester will desperately be hoping to cause an upset and turn the tide of their season, and may have just been handed a boost in doing so.

Four players out for Manchester United

Speaking ahead of the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on the situation within his squad, and it is not good news for Manchester United fans.

Raphael Varane limped off for France in the Nations League final clash with Spain, which Les Blues went on to win. However, news has since emerged of the severity of the injury, and Solskjaer confirmed that the World Cup winner will be “out for a few weeks”.

He joins defensive partner Harry Maguire in missing this clash, with the United boss revealing that today was the club captain’s first outing back on the grass, meaning that the clash with his old club may come just too soon for the skipper.

Meanwhile, both Fred and Edinson Cavani played 90 minutes in the early hours of Friday morning, as Brazil took on Uruguay, meaning that they will likely also be unavailable for the clash. One man who this does spell good news for is Donny Van De Beek, who will surely be thinking if he isn’t selected tomorrow, when will he be selected.

Do Manchester United still have enough to emerge from the Midlands with all three points, or will Leciester pick up their third win of the season?
