Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues 2019-20 Man United prediction

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Man United 0 – Cardiff 2

Gallows humour was in full force at Old Trafford on Sunday on the final day of the Premier League season.

The joke doing the rounds was that five years after he left Wales, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally got Cardiff to play well.

The problem for OGS is that Cardiff’s success came at Man United’s expense.

Cardiff, already relegated to the Championship, beat Man United 2-0.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was the hero for the Bluebirds, scoring a brace at the Theatre of Dreams.

As a result, Man United finished the league campaign in sixth spot on 66 points.

Solskjaer’s 2019-20 Man United prediction

Will Man United improve in the 2019-20 season?

After the Cardiff game, Solskjaer revealed his targets for Man United next season. He said:

We know where we are, we know where we are at and it’s too far behind where we want to be.

Of course, we’re used to challenging for the Premier League and that’s not going to be sorted quickly. Realistically, we’re not going to catch how many points it is, 32, behind the top teams.

We have got to realistically challenge for top four and a trophy. The last time in the Europa League with José and loads of these players, we won it. And the League Cup — we have to start the season with the aim to win.

Man United wait for Man City vs Watford

The FA Cup final may have a significant impact on Man United’s 2019-20 preparations.

If Watford are able to beat Man City in the showpiece, Man United will have to start their 2019-20 campaign early.

That’s because a Watford win will mean Man United have to go through the Europa League qualifiers.

Those qualifiers start on July 25th.
