Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints it won’t be long before Man United’s fans see Amad Diallo in action

Reds switch

The major talking point at Old Trafford last week of course surrounded the arrival of starlet Diallo.

The 18-year-old was at the heart of one of a number of deadline day deals struck by United this past October, when he joined Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri in putting pen to paper on terms with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.

Diallo, though, unlike the aforementioned trio, did not actually make the move to Manchester at the time.

With the Reds having been waiting for international clearance and the processing of a new passport for their latest big-money addition, it was decided that he would remain in Italy for the opening half of the campaign.

In turn, after the final details of the deal were thrashed out, United finally announced that their swoop for Diallo had indeed been finalised last Thursday:

‘Looked really comfortable’

Diallo’s arrival of course comes with question marks having surrounded Manchester United’s right wing thus far this season, with none of Mason Greenwood, Dan James or even at times Marcus Rashford having yet solidified the position as their own.

As such, though he remains both young and inexperienced, the Red Devils faithful have expressed hope that Diallo could be handed the chance to impress on their side’s right flank in the near future.

And, as outlined above, if the latest comments on the part of his manager are anything to go by, then such a possibility does not appear to be out of the question.

Speaking this weekend ahead of United’s top-of-the-table showdown with Liverpool, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was drawn on how Diallo is settling into his ranks.

And, after first revealing how impressed he has been by the Ivorian, the United boss went on to hint that his new wide-man could be handed his debut ‘in not too long’:

‘Amad has looked really comfortable and he’s settled in really well in training. It shows how technically adept he is and, of course, we’ll give him time to settle and adjust, but hopefully we can see him on the pitch in not too long. He’s definitely done well in training.’
