Team news before Everton vs Man United
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given an injury update on Anthony Martial, ahead of his side’s trip to Everton this weekend.
Martial has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence in recent weeks.
The Frenchman had struggled for large parts of this season, also suffering an injury earlier on in the campaign.
However, the forward has impressed in recent weeks.
In his last nine Premier League games, Martial has scored a pretty impressive six goals.
With Marcus Rashford possibly missing the remainder of the season, that form comes at a very good time for Manchester United.
However, Martial was forced to miss the Europa League clash with Club Brugge on Thursday due to injury.
Now, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given an update on Martial’s fitness ahead of the trip to Goodison Park on Sunday.
Ole unsure on Martial’s fitness before Everton
Speaking in his pre-Everton press conference, Solskjaer praised January signing Odion Ighalo for his goal against Brugge.
He then admitted that Martial is touch and go for his side’s upcoming match, but Ighalo is ready to step in if the Frenchman is not fit enough to feature.
“Odion has definitely shown what type of striker he is,” Solskjaer explained, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“He’s ready for that game on Sunday. I don’t know about Anthony, to be honest. I’ve not asked. He tried this morning, so he wasn’t that bad but we’ll have to do a scan tomorrow probably.”
Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba are already out of the clash against Everton.
The Manchester Evening News also suggest in their report that both Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Axel Tuanzebe could return from injury in an Under-23s game against Stoke on Monday.
