Official: West Ham United sign Carlos Sanchez

Premier League outfit West Ham United have this evening confirmed the signing of Carlos Sanchez from Fiorentina.

‘The Rock’

Sanchez, an experienced 32-year-old defensive midfielder, has struggled to find a home over recent seasons, having lined out for all of Aston Villa, Fiorentina and Espanyol over the course of the last 3 years.

He most recently donned the colours of the latter of these sides, on loan from Fiorentina, with his performances at the RCDE Stadium having earned Sanchez a place in Colombia’s World Cup squad this summer.

After being sent off just 3 minutes into the South American nation’s tournament opener versus Japan, Sanchez, who has racked up an impressive 88 caps for his country, returned to play important roles versus both Senegal and England, before José Pékerman’s men were eventually ousted from the tournament at the hands of the Three Lions in the Last-16.

Done deal

In the aftermath of his showings at the World Cup, Sanchez’s club future has remained very much up in the air, with Fiorentina having long been open to a sale.

And, after rumours began to mount over the last 48 hours that Premier League outfit West Ham United were expressing a serious interest in ‘The Rock”s signature, the Hammers have this evening officially confirmed Sanchez’s signing on a two-year deal:
