Official: West Brom sign Gareth Barry from Everton

West Bromwich Albion have this evening announced the signing of midfielder Gareth Barry from Premier League rivals Everton.


Barry, a vastly experienced 36-year-old midfielder, has lined out for the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City and Everton over the course of his career, with the English international having arrived at Goodison Park on a permanent deal in 2014.

On the move

However, with Toffees boss Ronald Koeman having the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Idrissa Gueye, Davy Klaassen, Tom Davies and Muhamad Besic to choose from in midfield, Barry’s time on Merseyside had always looked likely to come to an end before the close of the transfer window.

Done deal

And his expected departure has indeed been announced this evening, with West Brom having secured a deal for the seasoned veteran for an undisclosed fee.
