Lindelof rewarded for positive year
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has signed a new five-year deal at Old Trafford, keeping him at the club until 2024.
Despite being somewhat of a disappointing signing initially, Lindelof has thrived since Ole Gunnar Solskjær took over.
In his first year at the club, Lindelof featured just 17 times in the Premier League for Man United.
Though, it was a different case last season.
The Swedish international featured 30 times in the English top-flight, while also playing seven Champions League games, and largely impressed.
This season, Lindelof has featured in all of Manchester United’s Premier League games, and has solidified himself as Harry Maguire’s defensive partner.
Now, he’s been rewarded for his performances over the past year or so with a new contract.
“I believe that only good things are ahead for this great club”
As announced by Manchester United, Lindelof has signed a new five-year deal.
The Red Devils have an option to extend his contract by another year after that, making it a potential six-year deal.
Speaking after signing his deal, Lindelof confirmed that he is looking to continue his improvement, and is targeting trophies.
“Since the day I arrived at United it has felt like home,” Lindelof explained to Man United’s official website.
“I have grown significantly both as a player and as a person in the last two years and for that I am grateful to everyone at the club for their help and support. I love playing football and my aim now is to help the team to win trophies and repay the fans for their unrivalled support.
“I’m still young and know I can improve further but with the help of the boss and his coaching staff, I believe that only good things are ahead for this great club.”
