Official: Man United’s Axel Tuanzebe returns to Aston Villa

Championship outfit Aston Villa have this afternoon confirmed the loan signing of Axel Tuanzebe from Manchester United.

Prodigious starlet

Tuanzebe, a versatile 20-year-old defender who can play either at full-back or in a central role, spent his entire youth career with United, having joined the club as a youngster in 2005.

He has since gone on to establish himself as one of the most highly-regarded talents in the recent history of the Red Devils’ youth setup, with the English U21 international’s fleeting performances in the club’s first-team to this point having been extremely encouraging.

Return

After surprisingly remaining at Old Trafford last summer, when he was widely expected to be farmed out on loan, Tuanzebe subsequently struggled for game-time over the opening half of the campaign, leading to the stopper eventually making the move to Championship outfit Aston Villa for the remainder of the season in January.

And, though he managed just 4 league starts during his short stint at Villa Park last season, the Clarets have this afternoon confirmed that Tuanzebe has returned to the club for a second loan spell, for the 2018/19 campaign:
