Official: Liverpool tie down Alisson to long term deal

Alisson’s Liverpool career to date

Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson has revolutionised Liverpool’s defence since he joined the club from Roma in 2018. Along with the colossal figure of Virgil van Dijk, he helped to create a sense of invincibility on Merseyside, as the Reds reached the Champions League final in his first season, beating Tottenham to lift the trophy for the sixth time.

One year later, he was an integral part of Liverpool winning their first Premier League title, which saw the club go unbeaten until the end of February (a total of 27 League games).

New deal a fair reward

As a result, it is unsurprising that the Brazilian ‘keeper became the latest Liverpool player to be offered a new contract by Jurgen Klopp and co., with the club having announced that a deal had been reached across social media earlier today.

Speaking to, Alisson said:

“I think I didn’t waste too much time to think about that. It’s something we just built in those last three years, the confidence, the trust that I have in the club and the club has in myself.

“Me and my family, we are really happy here. My kids are settled in England, in a different country, but they are growing up in that way. So we are really happy. I’m really glad that I can keep going on with my work here, doing a good job here. So, I’m really happy to make this decision – that is not hard for me.”

Whilst Liverpool did not themselves announce the length of the deal, it is thought to run until 2027.

The announcement regarding Alisson comes just 24 hours after confirmation that fellow Brazilian international Fabinho has also extended his contract on Merseyside, tying the midfielder to the club until 2026.

With two key figures in the Liverpool side now tied down to long term deals, will the Reds turn their attention to incomings for the rest of the window?
