Official: Hull City sign midfielder Jon Toral from Arsenal

Championship outfit Hull City have this afternoon confirmed the signing of Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral on a 3-year-deal.

Talented technician

Toral, a 22-year-old attacking midfielder, arrived at Arsenal in 2011 from Barcelona with a big reputation on his young shoulders.

Having continued his development as part of the club’s youth setup for a further three years, Toral was eventually introduced to the Gunners first-team squad in 2014.

However, he has since struggled to make an impression on manager Arsene Wenger, and has been sent out on loan for each of the past three seasons.

His most impressive campaign to date came during the 2015-16 season, when he was named Birmingham City’s supporters’ and players’ player of the season.

Further loan spells at Granada and Rangers did not help in pushing the Spaniard any further up the midfield pecking order at Arsenal, though, meaning another temporary move away from North London looked the most likely scenario this summer.

Done deal

However, while Toral has indeed departed the Emirates once again today, his latest move has surprisingly come in the form of a permanent transfer.
