Summer signing number four for Everton
Everton have completed their fourth signing of the summer transfer window, confirming the arrival of Ivorian midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
The Toffees have been busy so far in the transfer window.
Everton have already completed the signings of Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph and Jonas Lossl.
They’re also set to confirm the signing of Juventus starlet Moise Kean in the next 24 hours.
Though, there’s another player who has now been confirmed as an Everton man.
That player is Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
“I didn’t think for more than a moment – I wanted to come here”
Everton have confirmed that Gbamin has signed on a five-year deal from Mainz, with it being reported that the fee is £25 million.
The Ivorian is a tough-tackling holding midfielder, and Everton fans will hope that he’s a worthy replacement for Idrissa Gueye.
Gueye left Everton for Paris Saint-Germain last week.
Speaking about his move, Gbamin was clearly excited to join the Toffees, claiming that he ‘didn’t think for more than a moment’ when approached.
“It’s a big moment with a lot of emotion and now it’s on me to prove on the pitch why they bought me,” Gbamin explained to evertontv.
“I’m excited because Everton is a great club here in England with a big history and ambition so I didn’t think for more than a moment – I wanted to come here.
“I like to go in the duels. I like to run a lot and tackle. I also pass good and have a good transition. All the rest, the fans will see. I will give everything on the pitch.”
