Official: Everton secure double signing of Yerry Mina & Andre Gomes from Barcelona

La Liga giants Barcelona have this evening confirmed that they have agreed a pair of deals with Everton to send both Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes to Goodison Park.

Double deal

The story surrounding the future of Colombian stopper Mina has been one of the talking points of the transfer window to this point, with the likes of Liverpool, Fenerbahce, Lyon, Manchester United and Everton having all been touted as potential destinations for the powerhouse.

It had long been known that Barcelona were ready to part ways with Mina, with Clement Lenglet’s arrival from Sevilla earlier this summer having made the South American fully expendable.

Manchester United and Everton emerged as the clear front-runners for the 23-yea-old over the last couple of weeks, with reports in Spain over recent days having suggested that a move to the latter was on the verge of completion.

And, after Mundo Deportivo reported earlier today that both Mina and Andre Gomes were undergoing medical tests in Barcelona under the supervision of representatives from Goodison Park, Barcelona have since announced across the club’s social media channels that Mina is indeed headed for Merseyside:

Temporary arrival

25-year-old midfielder Gomes, meanwhile, has never truly settled in Catalunya following his big-money arrival from La Liga rivals Valencia two years ago.

Despite being unquestionably talented, the Portuguese international has simply never found his legs at the Camp Nou, with his tentative performances both last season and the campaign before having showcased a clear lack of confidence on Gomes’ part.

As such, with both Arturo Vidal and Arthur having been added to Barca’s midfield ranks this summer, Gomes was inevitably deemed surplus to requirements, with the likes of West Ham United, Juventus and Manchester United having been named as admirers.

But, as was the case with Mina, after undertaking his medical with Everton earlier today, a deal between Barca and the Toffees has this evening been announced by the former, with Gomes making his way to Goodison Park on loan for the coming season:
