Chelsea have this afternoon announced that the club have struck a deal with Dutch giants Ajax, over the summer signing of Hakim Ziyech.
Ziyech on the move
The big news across the European media yesterday surrounded Ziyech’s possible move to Stamford Bridge.
Despite the January transfer window having only just come to a close, speculation began to emerge from the Netherlands that Chelsea had struck a bolt-from-the-blue agreement with Ajax over Ziyech’s signing.
The gifted Moroccan creator, who has already racked up 8 goals and a staggering 21 assists to this point in the current campaign, was widely-tipped to join the Blues at the end of the season, for a fee of €40-45 million.
Chelsea switch confirmed
Confirmation of Ziyech’s imminent Stamford Bridge move, though, was not actually forthcoming yesterday.
As such, Chelsea’s fans were forced to wait with bated breath for the club to make their deal with Ajax official.
As outlined above, however, such confirmation has this afternoon been forthcoming.
In an announcement across the club’s social media platforms a short time ago, Chelsea revealed:
Chelsea Football Club has reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Hakim Ziyech this summer. The move is subject to the player agreeing personal terms and he will remain at the Dutch club for the rest of this season.

Ajax, meanwhile, have since also confirmed Ziyech’s upcoming departure, whilst providing an insight into the financial details of the deal.
The Dutch champions announced that they are set to receive a guaranteed €40 million from Chelsea, along with a further potential €4 million in add-ons.
Hey @ChelseaFC, you have to believe in his magic.
And great things will happen.
