Messi’s retirement from national team

Leo Messi shocked the nation of Argentina when he sensationally announced his retirement from the national team in the wake of their Copa America final defeat.

The Barcelona star lamented that after losing 3 finals for the national team, he felt he could no longer take the suffering, and announced that he would no longer be playing for them.

This provoked seismic shock and borderline mourning in Argentina, and became a veritable affaire d’etat, with electronic billboards imploring the 5-time Ballon D’Or winner to rethink his decision.

U-Turn complete

And it wasn’t long before we heard that Messi had been moved by the displays of affection from Argentines, and that he was considering doing a U-turn.

That U-turn is now complete, as the Argentine FA today announced that their captain has decided to return to the national team, and will be available for selection for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
