Ashley Young

Official: Ashley Young pens Man United contract extension

Manchester United have this afternoon confirmed the news that Ashley Young has put pen to paper on a contract extension with the club.

United stint

33-year-old Young has been on the books of the Red Devils since the summer of 2011, when he made the move to Old Trafford from Aston Villa.

And the English international has since gone on to develop into a solid squad player in Manchester, with his surprise conversion from a winger to a full-back having seen Young manage to prolong his career at the top-level.

To this point in the current campaign, the veteran has racked up 25 appearances across all competitions, including starts in 18 of United’s 26 Premier League outings.

All told, he has appeared on an impressive 227 occasions for the Red Devils. Young is also one of only five players on United’s books to have won a league title with the club.

Young staying put

And, as per the aforementioned announcement on the part of the Manchester giants this afternoon, Young has today been rewarded for his loyalty and continued hard work with a contract extension.

The stopper has put pen to paper on a one-year renewal, set to keep him at Old Trafford until the end of next season:
