Official: Alexis Sanchez joins Inter Milan from Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez’s permanent move to Inter Milan has been made official on Thursday.

Sanchez’s Man United stint

Sanchez made the move to Manchester United in January of 2018.

At the time, the versatile forward was viewed as one of the Premier League’s most deadly attackers.

However, the Chilean’s subsequent time with the Red Devils proved pretty poor, to say the least.

Sanchez’s first-half season at Old Trafford saw him score just two league goals, a far cry from the type of goal-scoring exploits he had previously produced at Arsenal.

The now 31-year-old’s first and only full season at Man United then proved even worse, with Sanchez having netted just once in 20 Premier League appearances.

Sanchez officially joins Inter

Such a dismal return eventually led to the former Arsenal standout linking up with Inter Milan last summer, on a season-long loan.

Sanchez’s stint with the Nerazzurri has since proven something of a mixed bag, though he has certainly improved on his dismal United displays.

July was a particularly impressive month for Sanchez, as he managed to net three and assist six in Serie A.

And this upturn in form evidently impressed Antonio Conte and co, because, as mentioned above, Sanchez is now set to ply his trade at the San Siro on a permanent basis.

Inter released a rather brief statement across the club’s website and social media platforms this afternoon, confirming that Sanchez has joined on a free transfer until 2023.

And whilst some United fans may feel aggrieved at not netting any form of transfer fee for Sanchez, it’s worth noting that the winger was due £40m in wages for the final two years of his contract at Old Trafford.

Sanchez had previously cost the Red Devils a staggering £680,000-per-game-played.
