Jorge Mendes & Mino Raiola

Off to Real Madrid? Jorge Mendes & Mino Raiola fight to sign Spurs star

Tottenham 3 – Borussia Dortmund 1

Was that the result which will kickstart Tottenham’s season?

Spurs produced a fabulous performance in the Champions League on Wednesday night as they beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1 at Wembley.

Has that now put the Wembley hoodoo to bed?

Harry Kane was the star of the show for Tottenham as he scored a brace in a sublime individual performance.

It’s also worth noting that Spurs beat BVB without one of their best players as Dele Alli was sidelined through suspension.

Jorge Mendes v Mino Raiola

While Dele Alli played no part against Dortmund in the midweek, the Spurs star is headline news on Thursday.

According to the Times, the world’s two leading super-agents, Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola, are locked in a battle to sign Alli as their client.

Tottenham fans will be concerned about this update. Mendes and Raiola are known for sealing the biggest transfers in world football, so the suspicion is that they want Alli in order to take him away from Tottenham.

Target Dele Alli

On the battle between Mendes and Raiola for Alli, the Times report the following:

Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola have joined the race for Alli despite having previously shown little interest in recruiting English players. They are understood to have approached the player through his adoptive family.

Joining up with either of the super agents would increase speculation that Alli’s ultimate goal is a transfer from Tottenham to Real Madrid or Barcelona, where Mendes and Raiola have impeccable connections and are well placed to facilitate a move.

The 21-year-old England midfielder has five years left on his contract at Tottenham but is likely to be given an improved one this season.

In an interesting note, it’s further mentioned how the super-agents are trying to coax Alli into a deal by securing the future of an important person in the footballer’s life.

Harry Hickford, who is labelled as being like “a brother” to Alli as they lived together during their teenage years, is also set for a new job.

Hickford is due to get a “role managing” Alli’s career alongside whichever super-agent manages to secure Alli’s signature.

For the record, Alli is agent-less at the moment. Last month the Spurs star ended his 15-year relationship with Impact Sports Management.
