Liverpool 1st, Man City 3rd
After two rounds of the Premier League season, Liverpool are already two points clear of Man City.
Liverpool have beaten Norwich (4-1) and Southampton (1-2) in their opening fixtures of the campaign.
Man City beat West Ham (0-5) in round one, but this past weekend they were held to a 2-2 draw at home against Tottenham.
Guardiola: Liverpool’s lead isn’t important
After the Tottenham match, Pep Guardiola expressed his thoughts on Liverpool’s two-point lead in the table.
The Spanish manager claimed that it’s far too early to be focusing on points at this stage of the season. Guardiola said:
I’m not going to think about how many points we need to be to be champions. Or how many points Liverpool need to win.
Odds cut on Liverpool winning Premier League
Ladbrokes have cut the odds on Liverpool winning the Premier League, after Jurgen Klopp’s side recorded their 11th straight win.
Following Man City’s shock draw against Tottenham, the bookies cut odds on Liverpool winning the Prem from 3/1 to just 5/2, while Man City have drifted from 2/5 to 4/9.
Elsewhere, Newcastle have seen their relegation odds tumble to just 6/5, while Watford boss Javi Gracia is now just a 5/1 shot in the Sack Race after back-to-back defeats.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “There’s still a long way to go in this campaign but it’s already technically Liverpool’s title to lose after City dropped points at the weekend.”
