Odds crash on Riyad Mahrez joining Liverpool

Riyad Mahrez & Liverpool

Ever since Philippe Coutinho left Liverpool for Barcelona, rumours have linked Riyad Mahrez with an Anfield move.

The Leicester star has long been tipped with an exit from Leicester since they won the Premier League.

Mahrez has been in brilliant form for Leicester this season. He’s scored seven goals and chipped in with 10 assists.

When it comes to finding a Coutinho replacement, many think Mahrez is the man.

Bad for Leicester: Odds crash

It’s also true that most of the reliable updates in the press on a possible Mahrez, Liverpool move have been downplayed.

Nevertheless, when the bookies make significant changes in the odds market, it can often be an indicator of wider opinion.

With that said, Ladbrokes  have seen odds crash on Riyad Mahrez joining Liverpool this January.

Ladbrokes are now pricing Liverpool spending some of the money received from the sale of Philippe Coutinho on Riyad Mahrez at 8/13. That’s incredibly short odds.

Other ‘odds on’ January deals

In fact five Premier League players are currently odds-on with Ladbrokes for January transfers, including Mahrez.

Alexis Sanchez is currently the most likely player in the top-flight to move this month, with 2/7 on offer for the Arsenal man to join Man City.

And he’s one of three Arsenal odds-on to leave North London between now and February 1, with Theo Walcott now just 8/13 to rejoin Southampton and Francis Coquelin 5/6 to sign for West Ham.

Elsewhere, West Ham are also 1/2 to add Newcastle’s Jonjo Shelvey to their ranks.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “This is shaping up to be one of the busiest winter windows we’ve ever seen, and plenty of Gooners look set for exits.”

Five Most Likely January Transfers

Alexis Sanchez to join Man City – 2/7
Theo Walcott to join Southampton – 2/5
Jonjo Shelvey to join West Ham – 1/2
Riyad Mahrez to join Liverpool – 8/13
Francis Coquelin to join West Ham – 5/6
