Nuno Tavares sends message to Arsenal fans after starring Villa display

Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares has taken to social media, to send a message to the club’s fanbase on the back of their victory over Aston Villa.

ESR & Auba on target

Mikel Arteta led his side back into action on Friday night.

After requiring a last-gasp equaliser to snatch a point at home to Crystal Palace earlier this week, the Gunners welcomed Aston Villa to north London, eyeing both an improved performance, and result.

And, when all was said and done at the Emirates, to say that both were ultimately forthcoming would be something of an understatement.

An all-action display, during which visitors Villa were largely restricted to little more than half chances, saw Arsenal eventually emerge on the right side of a 3-1 scoreline.

Thomas Partey opened the evening’s scoring with his first Gunners goal, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s spot-kick rebound on the stroke of the interval was added to by Emile Smith Rowe to kill off any hope of a comeback early in the 2nd-half:

‘We move’

In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close last night, it came as little surprise to see a host of Arsenal stars singled out for praise, with the likes of goalscorers Smith Rowe and Aubameyang, along with Ben White and Sambi Lokonga, having impressed.

It was another member of Arteta’s ranks, however, in the form of summer signing Nuno Tavares, who proved the star of the show in the eyes of most.

Left-back Tavares was handed a first Premier League start versus Villa, owing to an injury picked up by Kieran Tierney earlier this week.

And the youngster went on to shine along Arsenal’s left flank, linking up with Emile Smith Rowe to devastating effect, and looking an attacking threat each and every time he was on the ball.

And, as outlined above, recognition of his stellar efforts on the part of the Arsenal faithful does not appear to have gone at all unappreciated on Tavares’ part.

Taking to social media in the matchup’s aftermath, the Portuguese talent has sent a message of his own back to his new club’s fans, as showcased below:
