Liverpool vs Wolves
Wolves could have a huge say in the 2018/19 Premier League title race on Sunday.
Liverpool are currently one point behind table-toppers Manchester City heading into the final game of the season.
So, Liverpool must beat Wolves and hope that Pep Guardiola’s men fail to win at Brighton.
However, beating Wolves will be no easy task.
The newly-promoted side have earned an impressive record when facing the top six this season.
They have beaten Arsenal, Tottenham and Man United in the league. They have also drawn with Man City and Chelsea in the league.
In addition, they knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup.
Wolves not prepared to roll over for Liverpool
Heading into the tie, Wolves’ season is pretty much over.
They are currently 7th in the division and will remain there no matter how Sunday’s results unfold.
This also means that they will have secured Europa League football in their first season back in the top flight, as long as Man City win the FA Cup.
Therefore, you may have thought that Wolves would rest some players and take a less aggressive approach to the clash.
However, no doubt much to the disappointment of Liverpool’s fans, Nuno Espirito Santo has stated that his side will treat it like every other game and are ready to compete:
“We prepare ourselves for the game like we always did in these two years here.
“It’s the final game of the season and we want to compete. It’s an important game, a tough challenge. The players rise for every training session.
“Of course it’s a big, big game and we want to play it.” As quoted by Goal.
After such an impressive season, Santo has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award:
