Norwich’s Pukki played second-half of Leicester clash with broken toe

Norwich hold Leicester

Norwich traveled to Leicester on Saturday, as they looked to put an end to their dismal run of form.

The Canaries have not had the best time since clinching promotion to the Premier League, and began the weekend 19th in the table.

Norwich would face another mammoth test on Saturday as well, with Leicester City having won their previous eight league ties before kicking off vs Norwich.

However, Norwich would take the lead at the King Power with 26 minutes on the clock, thanks to a Teemu Pukki strike.

Norwich were unable to hold onto their lead, though, with Leicester equalising 38 minutes in.

Pukki suffers broken toe

After the Leicester clash, it has been revealed by BBC Sport that Norwich forward Teemu Pukki played the second 45 on Saturday with a broken toe.

Pukki is an integral member of Norwich’s squad, and has scored nine of their 18 league goals this season.

So, losing him for any period of time could be detrimental to Norwich’s survival hopes

After the game, Canaries boss Daniel Farke had this to say about Pukki:

“It looks like he has fractured his toe which is a worry.

“He is in brilliant shape at the minute but he is in a lot of pain. The fact he wanted to play on shows his character,” Farke added.

“His goal was a fantastic pass and finish. If he had been fully fit he might have got those goals [in the second half].

“He’s from Finland so I’m not too concerned.” As quoted by BBC Sport.
