Norwich vs Manchester City betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Norwich vs Manchester City prediction: Norwich 1-4 Manchester City

Manchester City have made a near-perfect start to the season. A frustrating draw at home to Tottenham is the only blemish on their record.

Despite having the joint-second top goalscorer in the league this season in Teemu Pukki (5 goals), Norwich sit in the bottom three.

City look set to continue where they left off before the international break.

Norwich vs Manchester City: Who will win?

The visitors are massive 1/7 favourites to win the match while Norwich are 14/1 to claim a shock win. The draw is priced at 8/1.

The league’s top goalscorer Sergio Aguero (6 goals) should be well-rested – despite featuring in Vincent Kompany’s testimonial match on Wednesday night – after being left out of the Argentina squad. Aguero is 13/5 to open the scoring and 2/5 to net anytime.

Although they’re without a goal in their last two matches across all competitions, Norwich did manage to find the back of the net in defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea. Back both teams to score at 3/4.

Norwich vs Manchester City Premier League match preview

The Premier League returns to action on Saturday following the international break. Defending champions Manchester City visit newly-promoted Norwich at Carrow Road in matchweek five.

Prior to the international break, City breezed past Brighton with a 4-0 home with. Sergio Aguero netted twice, while Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva also got their names on the scoresheet. City begin the weekend two points behind leaders Liverpool. The Reds host Newcastle United in Saturday’s early kickoff.

Norwich have lost three on the spin, including a surprising Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Crawley Town.

The Canaries also lost 2-0 at West Ham prior to the international break, which leaves them second from bottom, level on three points with Wolves and Aston Villa.

A goal for Aguero on Saturday would see him become just the third player to score in a club’s first five matches of a Premier League season, after Jose Antonio Reyes for Arsenal in 2004 and Wayne Rooney for Manchester United in 2011.

Manchester City and Norwich have met 16 times in the Premier League, with the Canaries winning on just two occasions. The last league meeting between the sides ended in a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road in 2016.

Norwich manager Daniel Farke has to contend with his side’s defensive injury crisis. Timm Klose suffered significant cruciate ligament damage in the Carabao Cup.

Defensive midfielder Tom Trybull will be out of action for another month after suffering ankle ligament damage in the same match.

Grant Hanley has a muscle injury and faces a late fitness test. Philip Heise and Ben Godfrey could pair up if Hanley misses out.

Max Aarons should be fine to start at right-back, with Sam Byron available as a backup if required.

Patrick Roberts is likely to be available despite being on loan from Manchester City. Roberts actually scored against his parent club while on loan at Celtic in 2016. Despite his expected availability, it’s unlikely that he’ll be picked.

John Stones has also returned to training and could partner Nicolas Otamendi at the back.
