McGovern thwarts dominant Germans
Northern Irish goalkeeper Michael McGovern was in superb form on Tuesday afternoon during Germany’s 1-0 win over the unfancied Irish.
The 31-year-old former Hamilton Academical stopper made a string of incredible saves to secure a scoreline which looks likely to see Northern Ireland through to the last 16.
He is currently unattached after his contract at Hamilton Academical recently expired. He could have Bayern Munich on the phone soon enough.
Germany had 25 shots in a very one sided affair and the Northern Irish will have their goalkeeper Michael McGovern to thank if they find themselves in the last 16.

The silly hype over Tim Howard at the 2014 World Cup was annoying. Most were easy saves. McGovern's performance has been truly exceptional.

Michael McGovern, who stopped a deluge in Northern Ireland's goal, swaps shirts with Manuel Neuer, the world's best. 0-1 f-t, amazingly.

Ozil named man of the match and he was great but, for me, McGovern is the Motm by a long shot. Outstanding.
