Chelsea didn’t have the best of days against Manchester City, and they deserved to get stick from their fans, watching pundits and other teams – but Jamie Redknapp managed to make himself look quite foolish when he made a number of strange comments following the game.
Of course, the watching fans picked up on it, and the one that seemed to rankle the most – and indeed amuse quite a few people was where he compared Chelsea front three – Hazard, Pedro and Willian, with Liverpool’s free scoring trio, Firmino, Salah and Mane – and most people thought it was ludicrous when he added that there wasn’t too much between each trio.
When you consider the Liverpool forwards are scoring for fun – yet Hazard is Chelsea’s top scorer in all competitions and only has 15 goals, 11 of which have come in the Premier League, it doesn’t really stack up – nor does including Pedro, who has had a terrible campaign, and been woeful at times, whereas Mane who many people would call the weakest of the Liverpool trio has been sublime on occasion, and very good for the rest of the time.
Of course, Twitter was all over it..
