CSKA Moscow vs Arsenal
Will Arsenal book their spot in the Europa League semifinals on Thursday night in Russia?
The Gunners are in the box seat in their tie against CSKA Moscow.
Last week at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal ran out 4-1 victors.
Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette both scored braces as the Gunners claimed a significant home win.
Most will be expected Arsene Wenger’s men to complete the job against CSKA tonight.
No Danny Welbeck: Arsenal surprise XI
Last weekend Arsenal beat Southampton 3-2 in the Premier League.
The star of the show was Danny Welbeck, who scored twice in the win over the Saints. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the other Arsenal goal.
Yet, according to the Times on Thursday morning, Welbeck has been left out of their predicted Arsenal XI vs CSKA.
Rather than picking the England forward, Alex Iwobi was selected in a wide left role by the paper.
No Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the Gunners
Of course, Arsenal will be without Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the CSKA game.
Mkhitaryan’s season looks to be over after the Armenian playmaker suffered a knee injury in the first leg tie against CSKA.
Instead, Jack Wilshere could be deployed in the number 10 role in Russia behind Lacazette.
Mesut Ozil, who starred in the first CSKA match, is tipped to be stationed on the Arsenal right.
Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny are expected to shield the Gunners back four.
David Ospina is expected to start in goal even though the Colombian has been hampered with a recent ankle injury.
