Leroy Fer and Wilfried Bony
Terrible news for Swansea City, midfielder Leroy Fer and striker Wilfried Bony.
It’s been confirmed on Sunday by the Welsh Premier League club that Fer and Bony are out for the rest of the season.
Against Leicester, Leroy Fer pulled up with a problem in his achilles/calf area, and was eventually stretchered off in some degree of pain with 36 minutes on the clock.
And it’s also been confirmed by Swansea that Wilfried Bony suffered a bad knock against Leicester as well.
Swansea confirm the bad news
Swansea have posted the following update on their website:
Swansea City have been dealt a double injury blow with Leroy Fer and Wilfried Bony both ruled out for the rest of the Premier League season.
(Fer) ruptured his Achilles and he is now expected to undergo surgery.
The same fate also awaits Bony after a scan revealed the striker had torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
Next Burnley, then Brighton
Swansea are out of the bottom three on goal difference.
That’s a remarkable achievement for manager Carlos Carvahal, who took over the side at the foot of the table.
Against the odds, Swansea are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions. During that time they’ve beaten Wolves, Liverpool and Arsenal. While on Saturday they drew 1-1 away at Leicester.
Jamie Vardy fired the Foxes into the lead, but Federico Fernandez levelled for Swansea early in the second half.
Next up for Swansea in the Premier League is a home match against Burnley. After that they travel to Brighton.
