Nigeria vs Cameroon live streaming: Match preview

Two African heavyweights meet in Alexandria

Nigeria have qualified for six of the last seven World Cups; Cameroon have made it to seven of the last ten World Cups.

In this competition, Nigeria are three time winners and Cameroon are five time champions and are the holders.

However, this year, one will fall at the round of 16 stage.

Neither side comes into this game in particularly good form though.

Nigeria started their campaign with back to back 1-0 wins.

Odion Ighalo scored the only goal of the game as they beat Burundi before Kenneth Omeruo got the winner against Guinea.

However, The Super Eagles fell apart on Sunday.

They were beaten 2-0 by tournament debutants Madagascar and, as a result, Gernot Rohr’s side missed out on top spot.

That ended Nigeria’s run of six straight wins at AFCON and means they face a tougher round of 16 tie.

Cameroon are the side who lie in wait.

Clarence Seedorf’s team kicked off with a 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau thanks to two quick-fire goals from Yaya Banana and then Stéphane Bahoken.

That was followed by goalless draws with Ghana and Benin as they too finished second in their group.

Les Lions Indomptables shocked everybody by winning AFCON two years ago so are now unbeaten in their last eight games in the competition, their longest unbeaten run for 15 years.

That run is likely to come to an end.

Neither of these two are at the peek of their powers but Nigeria’s squad contains better players and that should see them knock out the defending champions.
