Neymar suggests he is set to commit future to PSG & explains celebrating in front of Kimmich

PSG edge past Bayern

Two of Europe’s heavyweights battled it out on Tuesday evening, for a place in the Champions League semi-finals.

The meeting between PSG and Bayern Munich was of course a repeat of the 2020 final, which saw Bayern come out on top.

However, it would be the Parisians who emerged victorious this time around.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side headed into the action boasting a 3-2 lead from the first leg, after another starring display from Kylian Mbappe.

As such, despite Bayern’s 1-0 win on Tuesday, PSG still advanced due to away goals.

They will now face one of Manchester City or Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals.

Neymar staying put?

On the back of the tie, Neymar has all but confirmed that he will be staying at PSG.

The Brazilian’s current contract only runs until 2022, meaning PSG looked set to be forced into considering a sale this summer, in order to recoup some of the fee they paid for him.

There was then talk that Neymar had agreed a new deal until 2026 in February, but the club refuted such claims.

Now, though, speaking post-Bayern, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has confirmed his belief that Neymar will remain at the Parc des Princes ‘for a long time’:

“Neymar contract? I think Neymar will stay here at PSG for a long time”

Neymar himself was then drawn on the subject, assuring that he feels at home in Paris:

“The contract extension with PSG is no longer a topic! Obviously, I feel very comfortable and like at home here. I feel happier than before”

The former Barcelona man also discussed his celebration in front of Joshua Kimmich after the full-time whistle on Tuesday.

And though Neymar insisted that he did not do so to mess with the German, he went on to suggest that it was fate that Kimmich was so close to him, after the midfielder previously stated that Bayern were the better side, and would progress to the semis:
