A massive anonymous donation to help fight the spread of COVID-19 has today been attributed to PSG superstar Neymar.
Coronavirus wreaking havoc
The COVID-19 pandemic has of course taken centre stage in world news for several weeks now.
The number of positive tests has now surpassed 1 million, with over 54,000 of these individuals having sadly passed away.
The scale of the situation has understandably also seen the sporting world take a heavy hit, with football having come to a near standstill across the globe.
In Europe, all of the top-5 leagues, along with the Champions League and Europa League, having been postponed for the time being.
In fact, at present, Belarus stands as the only European country where top-level football continues to be played.

Neymar doing his part
These measures, meanwhile, have since resulted in a host of players and clubs alike moving to aid those in need wherever possible.
Heavyweights such as Juventus and Barcelona have already announced major wage-cuts for their respective first-team squads, with the Bianconeri’s stars having gone as far as to forego pay packets for the next 4 months.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and more top names throughout world football have also taken it upon themselves to forward massive donations to hospitals, as the health sector continues to man the front line in the battle against COVID-19.
And, as outlined above, the latest world-class performer to have dug deep in a bid to do his part is PSG superstar Neymar.
The 28-year-old has donated a total of £775,000, split between a pair of funds.
Neymar’s gesture was actually made anonymously, but the former Barcelona man was this afternoon named as the man behind the selfless act in his home country of Brazil.
Speaking to Fofocalizando, presenter Chris Flores revealed:
‘Neymar donated R$5m [around £775,00] to fight COVID.’
‘He made this donation at the beginning of last week. Part of it went to UNICEF, and part to that solidarity fund that was created by artists.’
‘He preferred not to publicly disclose [the donation], so we’re telling everyone, because as soon as we pull the ear, we also talk when the person does something nice.’
‘We have this information, I brought it to you. We really think it’s a very cool, very positive attitude, and one that serves as an incentive for other sportsmen, for other personalities.’
