Neymar & PSG

Neymar has ‘spoken to PSG stars’ ahead of his world record Barcelona move

Neymar to PSG, day 2

On Tuesday, football fans were fed one of the biggest transfer stories so far this summer.

Giant Brazilian news outlet Esporte Interativo, who have almost two million followers on Twitter, announced that Neymar has agreed a deal with PSG to leave FC Barcelona.

The source of the rumour is a Brazilian journalist called Marcelo Bechler, who also works for Lance! He stated that Neymar will sign for PSG for 222 million euros, while the transfer will be confirmed in the next few weeks.

Less than a day later, not only has Marcelo Bechler doubled down on his initial report, he’s also revealed he’s been threatened since his exclusive first broke.

Wednesday updates

Bechler has today announced that PSG players already spoke with Neymar about his impending move from Barcelona to Paris.

The Barcelona based Brazilian journalist confirms: “This time, Neymar’s intention is not to use PSG for new contract. He really wants PSG.”

Bechler also confirmed he’s received threats against his safety, however, in spite of that, he’s repeating his understanding that PSG will land the Brazil star.

Neymar’s dad

As all the rumours swirl about, Spanish radio station RAC1 revealed that Neymar’s dad bought plane tickets to Paris for Wednesday morning, however, after that news broke, Neymar’s dad never showed up for the flight.

At the same time, the Spanish media have caught up with Neymar senior, who has refused to deny rumours that he is going to meet with PSG officials in the French capital.

Barcelona, meanwhile, continue to assert that the whole Neymar-PSG story is bogus.

BBC analysis

On BBC 5 Live radio, South American football expert Tim Vickery has chewed over whether the Neymar to PSG story makes sense.

He’s seemed to prop up belief the deal could happen, noting that if Neymar wants to win the Ballon d’Or and assert himself as the world’s best, he may need to escape the shadow of Leo Messi.
