Neymar fan arrested

A man has been arrested after he was found hiding in a laundry room at the hotel hosting the Brazilian Olympic football team.

The 21-year-old was labelled a Neymar fan by police after they apprehended him. Police spokesman Vladimir Passos told AFP:

Hotel staff noticed something strange in his behaviour and called us. [He] planned to approach Neymar and the team.

The flaw was spotted and we’ve fixed it.

Further details have been provided by ESPN Brasil, who claim the man was released from police custody after being cautioned, while he had managed to get into the hotel using a fake Brazil FA credential to get past security.

That will obviously be a major concern to the organisers of the Olympics.

Globo play down the report, however, claiming the fan simply wanted to get a selfie with Neymar.

Brazil’s Olympic schedule

The host nation start the football competition agains South Africa on August 4.

Brazil have also been drawn in a group with Iraq and Denmark in their other Group A games.
