Newcastle fee to sign Sheffield Wednesday’s Steve Bruce revealed & Sam Allardyce confirms he rejected job

Sheffield Wednesday’s Steve Bruce & Newcastle United

Will Steve Bruce be the new manager of Newcastle United?

Newcastle are still searching for their next manager, after Rafael Benitez left his post two weeks ago.

While Benitez has already found employment in China, Newcastle are managerless.

Current Sheffield Wednesday manager Bruce is now leading the race to be the next boss of the Magpies.

Bruce has previously worked in the north-east, as the manager of Sunderland.

Steve Bruce to hold Newcastle talks

As confirmed in the Times on Thursday, Steve Bruce is planning to hold talks with Newcastle:

Steve Bruce asked Sheffield Wednesday last night for permission to speak to Newcastle United about becoming their new manager.

Bruce asked Dejphon Chansiri, the Wednesday chairman and owner, to be allowed to discuss the vacant role at the club he supported as a boy but, as it stands, the Sky Bet Championship side are reluctant to grant him his wish.

Newcastle & Sheffield Wednesday: Paying for Steve Bruce

Steve Bruce took over at Sheffield Wednesday back in February.

The Times reveal how much Newcastle may have to pay to release Bruce from his Owls contract:

It is understood that a compensation clause of more than £5 million was included in his contract.

Sam Allardyce confirms he rejected Newcastle

Former England manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that he rejected an approach from Newcastle to become their new manager.

Of course, Allardyce has previously been in charge at St. James’ Park.

Allardyce revealed Newcastle’s approach on TalkSport.
