Sheffield Wednesday’s Steve Bruce & Newcastle United
Will Steve Bruce be the new manager of Newcastle United?
Newcastle are still searching for their next manager, after Rafael Benitez left his post two weeks ago.
While Benitez has already found employment in China, Newcastle are managerless.
Current Sheffield Wednesday manager Bruce is now leading the race to be the next boss of the Magpies.
Bruce has previously worked in the north-east, as the manager of Sunderland.
Steve Bruce to hold Newcastle talks
As confirmed in the Times on Thursday, Steve Bruce is planning to hold talks with Newcastle:
Steve Bruce asked Sheffield Wednesday last night for permission to speak to Newcastle United about becoming their new manager.
Bruce asked Dejphon Chansiri, the Wednesday chairman and owner, to be allowed to discuss the vacant role at the club he supported as a boy but, as it stands, the Sky Bet Championship side are reluctant to grant him his wish.
