Newcastle United produced one of the biggest shocks of the season by defeating Tottenham Hotspur away from home.

The Toon will now be looking to build upon their success as they host the struggling Watford.

Despite many impressive signs last season, Javi Gracia’s side have so far struggled to find any sort of form.

Premier League preview: Newcastle vs Watford

Sunday’s win over Tottenham was exactly the type of result Steve Bruce required following his tricky start to life as manager at St James’ Park.

Having been forced to part ways with their beloved Rafa Benitez, Bruce had a lot of work to do in order to win over the club’s supporters.

With a big result like Sunday’s now in the bag, the pressure on the manager and players will have been somewhat alleviated.

That will have certainly of been the case for Joelinton who netted his first goal for the Toon in north London.

Having arrived for a club-record fee of £36 million over the summer – expectation has been on for him to deliver.

He took his moment well on Sunday and will be hoping that was the first of many as he looks to fire Newcastle to a respectable league finish.

Watford’s woeful start to the season

After three games, Watford are sat rock-bottom, with zero points, seven goals conceded and just one scored.

Now, they are without captain and star man Troy Deeney who has undergone knee surgery.

Last season, Gracia agreed a long term deal with the Hornets.

However, following Watford’s poor start, Gracia could now be the first manager to be sacked in this year’s Premier League.

Taking advantage of a trip to St James’ could be crucial with Arsenal and Manchester City up next.
