Newcastle United host Norwich at St. James’ Park on Saturday.

Norwich progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win at Burnley on Saturday. Grant Hanley and Josip Drmic were on the scoresheet. In the Premier League, Norwich remain dead last, eight points from safety.

Norwich City have the worst away record this season, winning one and drawing two of their 12 matches on the road. They have only managed to score six away goals all season.

To be fair to Daniel Farke’s side, they have shown a slight improvement recently, winning three and drawing two of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Newcastle were held to a goalless draw at home to League One side Oxford United in the FA Cup on Saturday. The replay at Oxford will take place on 4 February. Despite the frustrating result, Newcastle’s unbeaten run extends to six matches in all competitions. It’s worth pointing out that only two of those six matches have been wins.

Steve Bruce’s side pulled off a remarkable comeback in their last Premier League outing. Newcastle were 2-0 down in the 93rd minute at Goodison Park and miraculously earned a draw thanks to a late brace from defender Florian Lejeune. The Magpies begin the weekend in 14th place, seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Newcastle’s home form has been relatively decent this season, with five wins and four draws at St. James’ Park.

Saturday’s clash will be the 16th in the Premier League between these two sides. There have been 28 goals scored in their last five meetings in all competitions.

Norwich were 3-1 winners in the reverse fixture at Carrow Road in Gameweek 2. Teemu Pukki scored all three for Norwich while Jonjo Shelvey bagged a very late consolation goal.

Six of Newcastle’s seven Premier League wins over Norwich have come at St. James’ Park, a ground at which Norwich have never won in the Premier League. In fact, Norwich lost 6-2 the last time they travelled to St. James’ Park in the top flight. Gini Wijnaldum scored four goals that day.

Daniel Farke will be hoping that Todd Cantwell can recover from his hamstring injury. Emiliano Buendia also has a chance of returning. Lukas Rupp and Onel Hernandez provide alternate wide options for the Canaries.

Ben Godfrey serves the final match of his three-match suspension. The 22-year-old was shown a straight red card in Norwich’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth in January.
