Newcastle United vs Bournemouth betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Newcastle vs Bournemouth prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Bournemouth

Bournemouth have won three of their five Premier League matches on the road this season – the same number as leaders Manchester City.

Eddie Howe’s side have also scored the same number of away goals as City (9). Newcastle, meanwhile, have picked up just one win from their six home matches.

Newcastle will be looking for back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since April.

Newcastle vs Bournemouth: Who will win?

Bournemouth are narrow 8/5 favourites to win while Newcastle are priced at 17/10. The draw can be backed at 9/4.

Five of Newcastle’s last six matches have featured less than three goals. Under 2.5 goals is priced at 4/5.

Callum Wilson can’t stop scoring this season. His seven goals this season have earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.

Newcastle vs Bournemouth Premier League match preview

Newcastle United host Bournemouth at St James’ Park on Saturday for matchday 12 of the Premier League season.

Bournemouth are flying high in sixth position, four points outside the top four. The Cherries’ six-game unbeaten run came to an end last weekend as they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United.

Eddie Howe’s side were unfortunate to lose the match in the fashion they did, conceding a soft Marcus Rashford goal in second-half stoppage time.

Bournemouth dominated proceedings for large portions of the game and will take plenty of confidence from their performance.

Newcastle’s first win

Newcastle climbed out of the bottom three last weekend by winning for the first time this season.

Ayoze Perez’s second-half goal was enough to secure a 1-0 home win over Watford and ease the pressure somewhat on manager Rafa Benitez.

Newcastle begin the weekend on six points, with a superior goal difference over Huddersfield separating them from the bottom three.

Bournemouth won last season’s corresponding fixture 1-0 thanks to a 92nd-minute winner from Steve Cook. The two sides also played out a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium in February.

Newcastle team news vs Bournemouth

Newcastle suffered three injuries in the space of six playing minutes last weekend. Jamaal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey and Yoshinori Muto were all forced off against Watford.

Lascelles is expected to recover from a shoulder injury although Fabian Schar provides an alternative at the back.

Shelvey and Muto both have muscular problems and are likely to miss out. Ayoze Perez and Ki Sung-yeung are viable options to replace the duo.

Ciaran Clark also comes back into contention after missing out last weekend.

Rafa Benitez has confirmed that Florian Lejeune has already returned to light training. The defender tore his ACL over the summer and was expected to be on the sidelines for much longer.

Matt Ritchie is set to face his former club.

Bournemouth team news vs Newcastle

Eddie Howe is not expected to make many changes on Saturday although Charlie Daniels could return to the starting eleven.

Forward Josh King is set to miss out once again. Eddie Howe said there was “no time frame” on the injury.

The Cherries could field a back-three once again in King’s absence, although Junior Stanislas is an alternate option out wide.

David Brooks is set to start on the right flank. The youngster was named Bournemouth’s October player of the month.

Dan Gosling is available to face his former club.
