As per a report from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle have clinched a deal to secure the loan signing of Inter Milan’s Valentino Lazaro.
Austrian wide-man Lazaro only made the move to the San Siro last summer.
After impressing during a 2-year stint with Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga, new Inter boss Antonio Conte sanctioned a £20 million swoop for Lazaro, with the 23-year-old having been expected to slot into the right wing-back berth in the Nerazzurri’s XI.
However, the months since have, to put it lightly, proven a disappointment for both club and player.
Lazaro has majorly struggled during his short stint in Serie A to date, having been afforded starts in just 3 of Inter’s 19 league outings to this point in the campaign.
In addition, when he has featured, the 26-time capped Austrian international has too often looked lacking in both confidence and, crucially, end product.
As such, it had come as little surprise to see Lazaro tipped for a San Siro departure of late, just 6 months on from his arrival.
And, as per the aforementioned report from Tuttomercatoweb, a transfer away from Milan for the pacy wide-man now appears imminent.
It is claimed that Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Inter, which will see Lazaro make the move to St. James’ Park on loan for the remainder of the campaign, for €2 million.
This will be followed by an option to buy in the summer, for a further €20 million.
