Good news for Newcastle
Newcastle have been handed an injury boost involving summer signing Allan Saint-Maximin, ahead of their clash with Tottenham at the weekend.
The Magpies haven’t made an ideal start to the season.
Steve Bruce’s side faced off against Arsenal in their first game of the campaign, a tough ask for any team.
Despite a pretty solid performance, Newcastle fell to a 1-0 defeat, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring the only goal.
That performance, though, was followed up by a shambolic one against Norwich.
Newcastle were comfortably beaten by the Canaries, losing the game 3-1, with Teemu Pukki scoring a hat-trick.
Now, the Magpies will face another tough task when they face Tottenham this weekend.
Thankfully for Newcastle fans, there’s some good news ahead of the game.
Saint-Maximin in contention, Carroll and Lejeune back training
Newcastle have confirmed that summer signing Allan Saint-Maximin is in contention for this weekend.
The Frenchman missed the clash with Norwich last weekend due to a hamstring problem.
However, the Magpies have confirmed to North-East reporter Mark Douglas that Saint-Maximin is in contention:
NUFC confirm @asaintmaximin in contention for Spurs on Sunday. Not back in training yet but expected to return in next few days.
No sign of @dwightgayle yet though.

While the winger is not yet in training, he’s expected to return in the ‘next few days’.
Douglas also claimed that Dwight Gayle is yet to return to training.
Aside from that, there’s some more good news for Newcastle fans.
The club have also confirmed on their social media pages that both Andy Carroll and Florian Lejeune trained on Wednesday.
While they were unable to participate in full training with the squad, Newcastle claim that ‘both are getting closer under the guidance of the club’s medical staff.’
Andy Carroll and Florian Lejeune were both out on the training field today as the pair continued their recoveries from injury.
