According to a report from the Northern Echo, Premier League outfit Newcastle United are readying a January move for Besiktas star Cenk Tosun.
Tosun, a 26-year-old Turkish international striker, enjoyed a breakout campaign at the Vodafone Arena last season, racking up 27 goals in all competitions, including 20 goals and 5 assists in 29 league starts.
The versatile Eintracht Frankfurt youth product can play either as the focal point of his side’s attack, or on either wing, and has also notched 8 goals in 24 appearances for Turkey.
And, as per reports spreading across England this morning, Newcastle United are now ready to lodge a bid for the talented hitman, who holds a reported price-tag of around 26 million Euro.
Scouts from the Geordie outfit watched Tosun in action during the international break, and were reportedly highly impressed by what they saw.
Rafael Benitez is keen to add to his attacking options at St. James’ Park, with the club having managed just 7 goals across their first 7 Premier League fixtures this season.
Along with Newcastle, both Tottenham and Crystal Palace are said to maintain an interest in bringing Tosun to the Premier League, with the former having been linked with a 20 million Euro winter bid.
Newcastle make their return to action tomorrow afternoon, heading to St. Mary’s to take on Southampton at 4pm.
The Magpies will hope to continue their impressive start to the campaign, with Benitez’s men currently sitting in 9th place in the Premier League table.
